DIY At Home Cleaning Sterling Silver Recipe!

DIY At Home Cleaning Sterling Silver Recipe!

I have an amazing DIY AT HOME cleaning sterling silver recipe that I wanted to share with you.

Below is the home do-it-yourself recipe with the baking soda, salt and water.

One itsy bitsy note, it can take up to 8 times using this recipe. One big bad note: Do not use this recipe with rhodium plated or any chains with anti-tarnish on them. When chains are plated with anything, getting them wet, even with sweat, will take off the plating.

  1. Boil some tap water in a tea kettle or pot.
  2. Line a cereal bowl with Aluminum Foil shiny side up.
  3. Place the chain or Sterling Silver Jewelry on the foil in the bowl (touching the foil)
  4. Sprinkle ½ teaspoon of table salt over it
  5. Add 1 tablespoon of common baking soda (a couple of Alka Seltzer tablets will also work fine)
  6. Gently pour the boiling water over the mix and agitate or stir.
  7. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
  8. Rinse thoroughly with tap water.
  9. Dry thoroughly with a towel and/or a hair dryer to get it completely dry.

Remember, it can take several times using this method. And do not use this method with hollow Jewelry like hoop earrings.

That is all for this edition, see you soon with some more tips for your Silver!
